Administrative Staff

Benita Smith

Executive Director

Oversee and ensure the orderly daily operations of Brockton Day Nursery. Establish procedures; develop, revise, and implement all programs based upon current agency policies Ensure the proper supervision, training, evaluation, discipline, and termination of staff, including contracted persons and union employees, based upon personnel policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements. Represent Brockton Day Nursery before community leaders, state officials, parents, social service professionals and others. Participate in relevant activities in the community that promote Brockton Day Nursery. Coordinate and/ or carry out all fundraising activities as directed by the Board of Directors. Negotiate and maintain all contractual agreements between Brockton Day Nursery and third parties. Keep the Board of Directors informed on all programmatic, financial, legislative, and related activities. Recommend policy and program changes to the Board that ensure the continued quality of services at Brockton Day Nursery.

Education Coordinator

Hire, orient, supervise, train, and evaluate assigned staff.  

Facilitate staff training and staff development as required by BDN policies.

Development and implement developmentally appropriate, multi-cultural curriculum in accordance with BDN's philosophy and policies, including activities, learning environments, and Field trips.

Support Service Coordinator

Liaison between Department of Children Families and BDN through an open referral system.

Facilitate and or prepare individual activity plan for each Supportive child.

Track all referrals completed on children and families with BDN and file appropriate paperwork.

Billing Coordinator

Conduct and complete enrollment meetings for all BDN age levels. Inform parents of BDN policies and procedures. Educate parents on subsidized child care, attendance and payment policies. Sets up transportation services for eligible families. Meet all requirements of the income eligible child care contract including maintaining all required documentation in client files. Update and reassess all clients as needed according to EEC income eligible and voucher child care policies. Communicate regularly with all Local CCR&R's to implement voucher child care. Ensure that voucher clients renew child care vouchers as needed. Assess, record, collect and deposit all tuition fees paid to Brockton Day Nursery. Identify past due payments from parents and send appropriate notices as required by funding sources and BDN policies. Complete accurate monthly attendance and billings to appropriate funding agencies in a timely manner. Maintain a waitlist according to the guidelines of funding sources and BDN policies. Collect required documentation to implement the BDN scholarship program. Reassess families according to BDN policies.

Finance and Development Coordinator

Maintain and monitor agency accounting system following GAAP principles. Submit monthly financial reports to the Executive Director and/or Board of Directors. Supervise the billing activities to meet funding requirements. Provide as requested by the Executive Director financial, enrollment , and related information for grant proposals, applications, expansion efforts and other special projects. Complete state, federal, and related financial reports. Assist with Special Events and other fundraisers as directed by the Executive Director including but not limited to : phone calls, tracking, etc. Research and seek out opportunities for donations and gifts in-kind for Brockton Day Nursery. Assists with research and data collection of foundations and trusts for grant writing purposes. Assist in the implementation of a donor/ constituent database. Provide assistance with marketing and community relations efforts as directed by the Executive Director including but not limited to outreach, pressreleases etc.

Cheryl Read

Office Coordinator

Maintain current personnel and benefit files/ database on all staff. Ensure that certifications and medical information on staff are current. In collaboration with Executive Director maintain a recording of staff attendance, keeping accurate logs on vacation, sick, and holiday pay, as well as other categories designated by collective bargaining agreements and BDN personnel policies. Complete all requirements of the USDA food program including meal and attendance forms, food forms and monthly billing. Collaborate with Office Assistant and  Billing Manager to ensure that all children's' files , records, forms, lists and databases are maintained and up to date.

Office Assistant, A.M.

Greet and screen callers. Ensure that children are released to only authorized persons. Collect payments from parents, issue receipts. Record and distribute messages to administrative staff, teachers, and bus drivers. Maintain current files on all children enrolled as required by Office of Child Care Services. Maintain children's database making changes as necessary.
